The purpose of this B.S. in Food Studies is to enhance my knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of 1) what food is, 2) where food comes from, and 3) what it means to eat, to cook food and to feed people.
This curriculum is intended to equip me with the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively participate in today's complex food system with a consciousness of how food production and food consumption affect the health of the human body, the human population and the natural environment.
The courses in this curriculum, combined with my independent research and internship have provided a diverse array of academic and practical perspectives. This combination of biological and social sciences will informatively influence my future as a chef, an entrepreneur, a consumer, a scholar and a food lover.
